Introducing: Looking Through Colour Glasses - 戴有色眼镜

The title "Looking Through Coloured Glasses" is derived from the Chinese phrase "戴有色眼镜", which highlights certain prejudices held by looking at people or things with personal biases. This is undoubtedly reflected in the English phrase "Looking through rose-tinted glasses", whilst both phrases possess inherently negative connotations; we hope this title allows viewers to reflect on their attitudes towards race, intersectionality, empathy, and tolerance positively and constructively. However, an added dimension to this title is that we have carefully selected Chinese language films that use colour in very imaginative ways to tell a story, granting a double meaning to the title of this review series. We hope to tell a story of the changing attitudes within China with our selected pieces of Chinese cinema.
